There are many ways to improve a business. Which one makes sense for yours?
You have a business. And there is something you want to improve.
Perhaps you want more customers. Or orders to go out on time. Or to hand over a responsibility without having to check everything afterwards.
You start looking for a way to do it, and the options appear.
A website. Advertising. A course. A system for organising customers. Someone promising to help you grow.
Each suggestion may sound reasonable. But you need to know something more:
Does this help with what is happening in my business? And is it the right thing to do now?
Grou started with that question
I have seen business owners spend time and money on different initiatives without being sure whether they were helping.
Sometimes the problem needed to be understood first. Sometimes the tool could help, but certain things needed to be in place for it to work. And in some cases, there was not even a way to tell what had changed.
I have also seen how much useful knowledge there is about improving a business. Methods, experiences and ways of working that can help solve specific problems.
The difficult part is finding what makes sense for your situation among so much advice, advertising and so many promises.
That is why we are creating Grou: to help you understand where to start and give you a path you can follow.
First, we understand what you want to achieve
You can tell us what concerns you, what you have tried and what you would like to do.
If you think you need a website, better social media or more organisation, we want to understand what you hope to achieve with that.
Then we connect what you tell us with what we can observe. We look at what already works, where there may be a difficulty and what we still need to understand.
That lets us explain why we recommend a first step and what might lead us to change that recommendation.
Clarity becomes something you can do
Your diagnostic should give you an understandable picture of your situation and a specific task to help you move forward.
What to do. What it should include. Why to start there. And what to watch for to tell whether it is helping.
For example, if we recommend preparing an explanation of what you sell, we will tell you what information it should include. You can then write it using what you already know and share it for us to review.
If the recommendation is to organise part of the work, we will explain what to prepare and how to try it.
Each business may need something different. What matters is that the next step is understandable and practical.
You can come back to review your progress
When you prepare what we recommended, you can share it with us.
When you try it, you can tell us what happened.
We will review what worked, what is still unresolved and what is worth trying next. You can also bring up another aspect of your business you would like to improve.
The help continues through what you do and learn.
Why is it free?
Because our purpose at this stage is to learn.
We want to find out what genuinely helps people understand and improve their businesses. Each diagnostic lets us review the way we ask, analyse and explain.
That is why the diagnostic, deeper exploration and follow-up reviews are free.
We also want you to understand our reasoning: what we saw, why we recommend something and what we do not yet know.
Start with what you know today
If you have a business and there is something you want to improve, we can start there.
You do not need to prepare a presentation or have all your figures in order.
We start with three simple questions about what you want to achieve, what your business offers and how it is working today. We may then ask for a clarification if needed.
We will review your answers and email you when your diagnostic is available in your account. It will not be ready immediately.
The idea is for you to finish saying: “Now I understand where to start, why it makes sense and what I am going to do.”
